28th March 2004

New To Heart TV series! Heaven.

Another Aruruu to Asobo update this week. Moe moe.

Got some free time this week, so I'll most likely be putting up doujin game stuff over the next few days that I wasn't able to write about before due to lack of time.

21st March 2004

Same thing this week, Aruruu to Asobo site has been updated again. Leaf Battle Characters is an RPG, total awesome-ness.

Little Witch has updated the Quartett webpage with a new trailer movie, this time running only on instrumental music.

14th March 2004

I didn't know my host started to stick advertising into the site. Damn. I wonder when it happened.

The Aruruu to Asobo site has been updated with new information on its contents. Mikage Subaru still couldn't escape getting stripped in the end. Hohoho. She ran away in Utawarerumono but she's not getting away this time!

Kogado Studios has put up a trailer for their upcoming game Symphonic Rain. I hope the storywriting is as messed as AS.

6th March 2004

...Yeah. If I make any updates at all it's going to be during the weekends.

Moedan, originally a joke by Quarter Iceshop, is now officially in production. Moedan is a danmaku shooter parody of Moetan.

Leaf has announced that Aruruu to Asobo, the 4th in their amusement soft series, will be released on the 28th of April. That's the same day as Clannad. Clannad's so gonna lose sales. It's been 4 years since their last amusement soft game too, I thought they'd given up on it.

29th February 2004

Studio Siesta has updated their site with new pictures of Airrade -AIR-. Looks like it's going to be worth getting.

23rd January 2004

Phantom Brave rocks! Completely different from Disgaea, but just as good. The story's not really reached me yet though, maybe it will when I play more... I'll probably put up stuff on it as I get further into the game, maybe. If I have the time. All my remaining free time's now dedicated to Phantom Brave.

22nd January 2004

I don't know why you're still visiting this site, but anyway, Type-moon has put for download an anime op for their game Fate/Stay Night. Its good, and I like how they handled it. It can be downloaded here.

14th January 2004

Site's going to rot and die now because of real life events that will prevent me from being able to update on a regular basis.

12th January 2004

- Tenbatsu

I watched it hoping I might find something interesting, but it way exceeded my definitions of "worst". I was hoping maybe I could just watch Lasty and ignore the crazy plot, but nooo it was just some other girl who shared the same name and hairstyle! The Lasty in Angel Rabbie kinda sucked, but the Lasty in Tenbatsu was waaaay worse.

Somebody needs to kill the director.

11th January 2004

Hmmm... shooters.

- Danmaku soeur (Kouhaku)

Danmaku soeur is a vertical scrolling shooter by circle Tokoroten.

Marimite shooter! You control the character using the mouse, which I kinda like, because danmaku games need precise motions, and I do that pretty well with a mouse, as compared to... the keyboard.

The visuals and the music are excellent, and together with great gameplay makes this one of the better shooters I've gotten to play thus far. The design of the shots from the enemies together with the choice of background is visual feast, especially on the final boss. I don't know if this is standard for danmaku games, but the awesome patterns and colour usage in the bullets from the enemies was a good enough reason for me to love the game.

There's no power ups in the game, but there's a good scoring system that's quite geared towards the fact that the player's using a mouse, and it works pretty good for extreme play too.

Good game. Danmaku is addictive. And... for those who may not know, a danmaku game is one where the entire screen is usually filled with bullets. Like the shot on the right, except that one's the first boss, so its still pretty mild.

And anything marimite has to be good, right?

Though I've never read or watched any marimite yet.

- Blue Sabers Operation Orbital Hammer

Blue Sabers is a vertical scrolling shooter by circle Blue&White. A trial version can be found on the Blue Sabers page about 1/3 down. The link's called "Trial Version" in english so its not hard to miss it.

The game's in 3D, but its a vertical shooter. The 3D's done pretty good too, a lot better than some other games out there.

There are three planes to choose from, each plane has 4 different weapons, 1 primary fire which you can use infinitely, and 3 secondary weapons that have limited use. But you can call out a support ship which can replenish the secondary weapons and restore your shield, only thing is that it takes a while to do so, and the support ship's pretty huge so it'll take a lot of hits quite easily. Nifty.

Gameplay's fun, good variety of planes and support planes to choose from, good difficulty, good game.

- Valstar

Valstar is a side scrolling shooter by 2CCP. The trial is not available for download, I think.

Only the trial version's available for playing for now, but it seems pretty good so far. Secondary weapon power's not mainly decided by how many times you pick up a power up of the same colour, but rather by the amount of damage you do in total to the enemies. The bar on the lower left shows the power of the secondary weapons, and it can be used to do certain bomb-like attacks depending on the weapon. Cool, but it also means that it cannot be used as a life-saver, even though the attack destroys enemy projectiles.

Stuff's probably going to be changed before the full version is completed anyway. Nothing much to comment about.

10th January 2004

Buttermonster.com had a site redesign recently, and the new design looks great. Take a look.

- Manatsu no Akihabara monogatari 2

Manatsu no Akihabara monogatari 2 is a rpg/side scrolling beat em up by Jinushi Ihha.

Incredibly fun game. The game's something of a side scrolling beat em up, except with the Tales series system. Then again some parts it stops being a side scrolling beat em up, but becomes a side scrolling rpg where you run into random battles instead. And it supports 10 players max too, that's something.

Music is good too! It has full voices for all the characters in the game, and it even has a opening song!

I think I spent some 6 hours on that game or more. I'm a sucker for games with lots of character customisation and stuff like that. Only I wish non-main characters like Usada actually had more moves.

- Espalion

Espalion is a doujin shooter produced by circle Team DRYUAS. You can download the demo here.

The full game isn't out yet, but the demo seems pretty fun. Feels right back in the 8 bit era again. Not much challenge though, at least not yet, the later stages in the full game might be more fun.

9th January 2004

- Yumeria 1

I thought it was going to suck, but it wasn't that bad. Except Mone should stop talking.

Also, I still haven't figured out how to assemble this thing. DAMN IT.

8th January 2004

Finally found time to start putting up stuff on the winter comic market.

- Hi no Kakera

Hi no Kakera is a 3D doujin fighter produced by Reddish Region, the demo is available here.

About the demo, you can use 4 different characters, but some moves cannot be used, there's no character voice, and the music quality is lower than the actual game.

Now to the actual game. The game's easily the best 3D doujin fighter I've played so far. Responsive controls, good combo system, interesting movelists, interesting characters, flashy graphics, and I think the gameplay is balanced too.

There's no last boss though, damn it. I wanted one.

- Jakuniku Gakuen

Jakuniku Gakuen is a 2D fighting game by doujin circle Zenryokutei.

When I saw pictures and the video, I actually thought that this was a 3D game, but it wasn't! It's a 2D game made on enterbrain's 2D Fighter Maker engine. This is probably the most impressive fighter I've seen yet that was made on that engine. Though, some minor problems with the engine itself still couldn't be avoided, but overall its a solidly made fighting game.

All the characters have their old trademark moves and such too. And full voice! Playing this game will awaken the nekketsu in you. Too bad there's only 5 characters in the game though.

- Petit Fleur

Petit Fleur is a visual novel by doujin circle Black Box.

Same sketchy type effects as Soushun, but this time with old film effects! Really simple to do effects, but they produce quite a good end result. Though, I haven't played the game yet enough to see if this film effect has any significance in the game storyline.

Soushun and Petit Fleur are good... but what happened to Limit Off?

- Dash DE Lei Lei

Dash DE Lei Lei is a side scrolling race-type game by doujin circle EasyGameStation.

Fun, almost repetitive, but it manages to keep it interesting with challenges of ample difficulty, and also by not dragging out the length of the game. Pretty solid gameplay, with tons of room for yarikomi gaming. The later stages were quite fun, with their harder than expected difficulty, I don't remember the last time I had to concentrate that much to play a game.

Also, Lei Lei moe.

- Mikagura

Mikagura is a side scrolling doujin shooter produced by Yoshiba Seisakujo. A demo is available here.(direct link)

Not a new game, but it's kinda fun. Clear 5 stages as fast as you can within the time limit, if you get hit, you only get stunned for a while, the only way you lose the game is when the time runs out.

5th January 2004

Ikari Shinji raising sim coming soon by Gainax. I wonder if the player can kill him every time he wanks or something.

4th January 2004

Doujin circle hirahira has put up a benchmark for their game online for download. You get to see Osaka dance around to music and change costumes and stuff, neat. This is the second time they're putting it actually, the first time it was available for download was on the 29th of dec, I think.

New patch for EFZ again available at the twilight frontier.

26th December 2003

No updates for a week.

Doujin circle DigitalHawk has put the demo for doujin fighting game Artemis Blade for download on their website. Kinda neat.

Studio Siesta has put the Limited Christmas edition of Airrade for download on their website. As of writing, 23 hours left to download it. I probably should have updated about this earlier, but I was busy.

Project YNP has put up new screenshots of their doujin game Cyber Formula SIN -Cyber Granprix-.

A new trailer movie for Guardian Heroines is now available on the Rapid Fire website.

New patch for EFZ bad moon edition at Twilight Frontier.

Hirahira has put up a new video on their upcoming game/screensaver Kasuga Ayumu no tsuuhan seikatsu.

24th December 2003

- Comic Party Revolution 1

Awesome! Way better than KSS's Comic Party TV series! They completely captured the essence of Comic Party! Desuno~

22nd December 2003

The trailer for the Tales of Phantasia OVA is now available for a limited time here. It looks great! They've got some talented staff working on the anime too, there's some hope that this one would turn out fine.

- Galaxy Angel GA-SP

The usual kind of GA funny, nothing very special. But good nonetheless.

21st December 2003

- Clannad promotional movie

The february issue of Techgian had a promotional movie for Clannad, featuring the opening theme of the game. Feels kinda un-impressive and un-interesting. Still, Key has some good writers, and I'll still give the game a go when its out.

20th December 2003

- Nekoneko Fandisk 2: Aka side story

I love these Aka side stories.

A lot of the time I thought Aka was an incomplete story, which had the parts less important to the plot cut out so the game would not become too long winded.

So far the side stories have done a great job of filling in all those gaps in the story that I really wanted to read about ever since finishing Aka.

This one was about Rutent's earlier days. It didn't explain precisely about her decisions in giving the kenzoku their powers, but it did however detail how the people that knew her came to end.

Need more side stories. Many more.

- Nekoneko Fandisk 2

They have successfully made me a fan.

19th December 2003

Doujin circle Zenryokutei has put up a promotion movie for their upcoming doujin fighting game, Jakuniku Gakuen. The characters featured are all from Kazuhiko Shimamoto's works. Nekketsu overload!

18th December 2003

Watanabe Seisakujou has once again updated with new information on Re.ACT. The demo will be sold for 100 yen in the winter Comic Market can be freely redistributed. The demo will only have Arcueid and Ciel playable, no Ren! And they also put up a demo movie up for download. Thanks to the Professor at mmcafe for part of the news.

Nekoneko soft has updated that they will be selling a another drama CD again this comic market, this time Shindou gets to be the magical girl. Awesome.

Type-moon has updated with a new Fate/Stay Night trailer available for download on their website.

- Melty Blood Re.ACT

Watanabe Seisakujou has updated that they have managed to complete the demo for Melty Blood Re.ACT in time for the upcoming Comic Market. This is great news, considering that they were having communication problems with the Type-moon guys late last month because Type-moon was too busy working on Fate/Stay Night.

17th December 2003

Studio Siesta has updated that their shooter Airrade -Air- will not be able to make the winter comiket. Crap.

- Dash DE Lei Lei demo

EasyGameStation has put the Dash DE Lei Lei Demo up for download! You can play two stages in this demo. Awesome fun. Lei Lei moe.

16th December 2003

- R.O.D TV 15

Yomiko is back. With Nancy. Yay.

- Nekoneko Fandisk 2: Baldr Neko Force

Baldr Neko Force is an action game made based on the Baldr Force engine with Nekoneko soft's characters. It is included as a part of Nekoneko Fandisk 2, produced by Nekoneko soft.

Hell, I haven't had that much action in a while. Its incredibly fun, really. I didn't put much in terms of expectations of a solid game since, well, Nekoneko soft didn't really make any games outside of visual novels(plus I didn't play the first fandisk).

In the game, you only get to play survival mode unfortunately, there is no story mode or something of that sort. And you get to outfit your character with a huge variety of attacks that all have their own varied uses. And then using these weapons, you try to win battles of increasing difficulty while trying to keep yourself alive. There's a lot of stages to clear though, I'm on stage 133 currently, and it looks like there's still quite a bit more to go...

There's lots of great guest CG! Starring CG from companies such as Studio mebius, August, Witch, KeroQ, Pajamasoft among others, all familiar and well known.

14th December 2003

- Nurse Witch Komugi-chan Magikarte KARTE 4

Awesome. But not as funny.

13th December 2003

Kita----! Doujin circle Rapid Fire has made available the demo for Guardian Heroines for download.

12th December 2003

- Kasuga Ayumu no tsuuhan seikatsu FINAL

So, uh, yeah. Doujin circle Hirahira will be releasing the final version of their little screensaver-ish game, which will feature changes such as an overhaul on Osaka's character model, many new costumes, a progress meter, and... stuff.

10th December 2003

Harada Takehito, now better known for his art in Disgaea, will be selling the doujinshi "Pleinair Handbook" in the winter Comic Market. You can see the cover in his website here. This is pretty awesome news, I mean, when was the last time Harada had a doujinshi? Two years ago? (not counting those other doujin stuff where he contributed a little)

To Heart 2 has been delayed! The game's supposed to take place in the same school as in the original To Heart, but 2 years later. The four Leaf artists, Misato Mitsumi, Amaduyu, Nakamura Takeshi, and Kawata Hisashi will be designing two characters each. Kawata's art is a different style from the other three though... would it fit?

9th December 2003

Doujin circle Nonono Tsuushin has put up a webpage for their upcoming Ragnarok Online Raising sim. The cast shown there is not the complete cast, more will be added as they update the page. Nonono had some pretty fun raising sims in the past, so I'm looking forward to this.

7th December 2003

- Dash de Lei Lei

EasyGameStation will be releasing the side scrolling action game, Dash de Lei Lei in the winter Comiket. The objective of the game is to reach the finish line within the time limit. I love Lei Lei, I love EGS's games, this game is so going to be mine.

5th December 2003

Aquaplus has made available partially the opening for Comic Party Revolutions for download! Looks better than I thought, though for some of the characters I prefer the KSS designs. Take a look!

Actually, it looks like it might have more of the Comic Party spirit than KSS, but OPs are always deceiving. Then again, if they just have some Asahi it'd be fine with me, she was completely ignored in the tv anime!

4th December 2003

Crap, the Ragnarok Online tv anime is going to be done by Gonzo. That sucks. Oh well, maybe there's still a little hope that it wouldn't be crap...

2nd December 2003

Hey! Yomiko DID kinda appear in ROD TV 13. I missed that. Damn.

Kadokawa special on the new mahou tsukai ni taisetsu na koto. Some 7 days more before it starts...

- Chrno Crusade 2

I hate Gonzo.

1st December 2003

Uho, ii Disgaea trading figures. From: Moon Phase

Studio SiestA has updated their website with new information on Airrade AIR. Hmmm... two player mode.

- ROD TV 13-14

Yomiko didn't appear! 14 was pretty good, gave a lot of the background story.

30th November 2003

Hoihoi-san on the PS2 is fun... for a short while. Could have been a lot more fun.

Project YNP has updated again with new screenshots of their upcoming game in the info section.

Little witch has released a demo movie for Quartett! It reeks of good design, and good game.

- Chiyoruga

Peach Parasol has released a demo for their azumanga/ikaruga doujin game, Chiyoruga. Good and fun. Kinda.

26th November 2003

Rockman collection sucks! We've all been cheated! Thanks to Momotato for the news.

25th November 2003

The Xenosaga 2 trailer has gotten me interested in Xenosaga again... crap.

I updated the moetan thing with a clickable link now, thanks to the reminder of that Brandon guy from that insert credit site. Now everybody can visit the moetan website too!

- Chrno Crusade 1

Hovering between "suck" and "acceptable". Maybe the next episodes would do better.

- Moetan

The WORDBOOK you've waited for! A revolution in english studying! 1000 most frequently used words and phrases!

...Or so that's what the back of the book says. I almost actually believed that it was a serious english learning book. I couldn't have been more wrong. The book is practically half a artbook as well, with moe art popping up every few pages. They know their audience well.

In the book we learn great everyday english phrases such as:

"His sisters keep on increasing fast in number"

"My ultimate weapon is the China cannon attached to my groin"

"The boy pilot raised his spirits too much in combat. He became liquid"

"My descendent worried about me. Then he sent me a robot from the future."

"The government concealed the story about a catastrophic disaster in the South Pole."

Almost like an otaku trivia to see how many anime you can identify from reading the phrases... and speaking of which, they translated otaku as "maniac". I like how well that translation fits :P

24th November 2003

- Ah Megami sama 27

I don't know why I read this - I haven't read any AMS in the last 10 years(or more, or less, I can't remember). Its still fun stuff like I remembered it to be though. And interestingly I'm not completely lost like I thought I would. Maybe its one of the intervals where nothing story-like is happening, so I follow it fine.

23rd November 2003

- Cyber Formula SIN Cyber Grandprix

Doujin circle Project YNP has announced that they'll be selling doujin game Cyber Formula SIN Cyber Grandprix in the coming Winter Comic Market. The graphics look just dandy, and they've revealed that they're planning to add in network gaming, amazing. Small note, the pictures of the newest version is in the info tab only, the pictures in the "snap" page are all from older versions.

A little history on this game... Project YNP was originally selling the game as Cyber Grandprix Championship, a while ago(didn't look as good as the new updated one though). But Sunrise stopped them from selling the game, for reasons not made clear. Apparently Sunrise has given them the green light now, which is why there's the copyright sunrise thing in the main picture in the website.

22nd November 2003

Kogado has revealed its 2004 game lineup, lots of sequels. Brandon of insert credit should be pleased about Power Dolls, I think, maybe. Scan mirrored from Moon Phase.

Hah! Galaxy Angel is back! New special in december, and a new series... sometime. Thanks to Moon Phase for the news.

20th November 2003

- Fruits Basket 13

Man, its back to normal again, I was hoping that it would continue to have climaxes which will soon ultimately lead to the end of the manga... Its still very good stuff, but I'm a lot more interested in how the author is going to conclude this big mess of well explored and developed characters.

19th November 2003

- Maburaho 6

Somehow I'm starting to enjoy this stupid generic anime. I hate all the girls though. I hope they die somewhere through the series.

18th November 2003

Nekoneko has put up a promotional movie for their upcoming Nekoneko Fandisk 2 on their website. The movie is about one of the contents, Baldr Neko Force, which is basically Baldr Force EXE with Nekoneko characters. More companies need to be like Nekoneko soft.

17th November 2003

The site's going to fall into casual negligence for about a week while I become occupied with real life affairs that require the greater part of my attention.

KOF 2003 seems very interesting so far, aside from Ash. I hope Ash dies by the end of the game.

- ROD TV 11 & 12

They went into an expected climax with predictable twists and turns. But the action is nice. I like. Wendy shoots people, that's not nice. She has been defiled by Joker! I was originally predicting that Yomiko would appear on the 13th episode. I hope she does.

15th November 2003

Our favourite sentai hero Momotato Man has updated his site with a new translated chapter of Yotsubato. Pay it a visit!

13th November 2003

Apparently doujin circle Aqua style will be releasing the super robot wars/Anpan parody movie Malignant Variation Reloaded in the winter comic market. You can also download the movie for the original Malignant Variation in the same page too, its 60mb, quite worth the download.

10th November 2003

Key has said in an interview that while they're trying for a release of Clannad this year, the fastest they can release the game is at best Jan 2004, though if they're slow it may end up being released in march instead. And all this even though they still haven't decided if Clannad is going to be an adult game or not...

9th November 2003

- Guardian Heroines

Rapid Fire has put up the introduction page for their upcoming doujin game, Guardian Heroines, featuring characters from Kanon. I like Guardian Heroes. I like Kanon. Hence I think the game looks good.

- Kapra W -The road to Al-de-baran-

Doujin circle Ichigo Citron has put up a demo for their Ragnarok Online shooter, Kapra W. Already feels like a complete game though, with ample amounts of replayability. I wonder how much more the complete game would offer? Nice game though.

8th November 2003

Uho! New mahou tsukai ni taisetsu na koto manga next month. The first one was really nice, with an ending that was better than the otherwise great anime version. Source: Moon Phase

7th November 2003

Apparently, C's ware has released the promotional movie for their upcoming renewed version of Eve. I'm kinda a fan of the Eve series myself, although I've only ever played Eve zero, of which the art was by Carnelian.

New updates on Alicesoft's Daibancho page!

6th November 2003

- Shingetsutan Tsukihime 5

Arc almost acts like herself! Or not. Ciel finally comes into the picture too. Wow. I'm so excited.

5th November 2003

French bread has released a new patch for Drill Milky Punch on their website.

!?

3rd November 2003

Out of stuff and I don't feel like scanning any 4 koma, so here's spoiler filled comments about (kinda) recent manga.

The final book for Pitaten was quite enjoyable, although I had expected Kotarou to brood more over having caused Shia's death... I liked the naming of the final chapter too, "the way to end the dream". Its nice that no matter what happens Kotarou would never be able to be together with Misha though. Happy ending miracles suck. Hoho!

The latest chapter of Tsubasa by CLAMP was kinda interesting... for the first time in months. Mainly because I liked Sakura's flashback where she was talking to an empty chair.

2nd November 2003

Fate/Stay Night trial is now available for download at Colourful Puregirl's website and Type-moon's website. I'm late about putting this on the site, woo~

Chou aniki sucks! I thought the new PS2 one would play better, but...

Late in getting it, but Mahoromatic book 7 is great stuff. Way better than the anime second season trash.

- ROD TV 10

Christmas! Shinobu-tan.

- ROD TV 9

Nice episode. But why was there nudity?

31th October 2003

- Shingetsutan Tsukihime 4

Unmoe kohaku sucks, I hope she dies in their version of a blended storyline. ho ho.

30th October 2003

Etna in Congress part 2
The slower guys might not get this joke.

Nekoneko soft has updated their website with a new top image about the nekoneko fandisc 2! Not exactly news, since everybody already knew it was in the making. At least it looks like it might be coming soon! I want to kill people using Shindou.

29th October 2003

Etna in Congress

The hoihoi-san game website has updated with info on original costumes that were not in the manga. I like gothic dress.

28th October 2003

- Full Metal Panic Fumoffu 8

Many Onsen, but was it enough onsen?

27th October 2003

The moekan anime website has been updated. Haha they look like crap! Ahem. Source: Moon Phase

26th October 2003

Just read the latest chapter of the Shingetsutan manga...
Shingetsutan Tsukihime manga >>>>> Shingetsutan Tsukihime anime
Not that the anime's bad, its pretty good. As long as you think of all the characters as strangers instead of Tsukihime characters.

New manga and anime from Shiki Satoshi, known for his manga Kamikaze, come Spring 2004. Hooray.

- .Hack//SIGN 28

Pretty pointless episode, aside from that Tsukasa finally gets to meet Mia! That was the only thing I really wanted to see since finishing the PS2 games and all of the bloody .hack anime stuff. But Ryoko didn't get to appear. The damn bastards.

25th October 2003

Giga has put up the official webpage for duel savior. Kinda empty.

- Tenjou Tenge 10

I love how I realised I didn't know what they were talking about by the time I reached the last page.

24th October 2003

Extra Gain

- Shingetsutan Tsukihime 3

Kohaku's smiling again! Oh wait... she stopped smiling... oh wait, she's smiling in the preview again. UGH FUCK YOU BLOODY DIRECTOR. Nero's sexy deer didn't appear either.

23nd October 2003

I love Hunter X Hunter. This week's chapter(199) was awesome once again.

The hoihoi-san website has put up many pictures of the hoihoi-san themed bus ad.

21st October 2003

Type-moon would be putting up a web downloadable version of the Fate/Stay Night demo soon, but it'll be different from the one that was in Techgian magazine due to legal issues. I wonder how it'll be different though, the Techgian one was pretty "complete". Unless they... shorten it?

- Fate/Stay Night demo

Man, just from the aesthetics I can't believe its Type-moon's first game as a professional company. Though music-wise, while I've only gotten to hear a small portion of the completed version's music, just doesn't seem very impressive for now... As for the story, its interesting so far and has potential, but we'll have to see about it in the full version.

The game's bloody long for a demo though...

20th October 2003

ABC gum
ABC gum means already been chewed! Some people apparently don't know that? I put the full name in the translations with those people in mind.

Doujin circle Purple Heart has released the demo for their... game, Polygon Love 2. Er. Not work safe.

19th October 2003

Friendship

Was there a 404 error with the 4 koma page earlier? To summarize, that was because the server sucks. Grr.

18th October 2003

Brandon Sheffield from Insert Credit did the most incredible thing and emailed me all the 4 koma links. Thanks to him the page is now complete!

Techgian has reported that Fate/Stay Night will be released January 30th, 2004. I expected them to miss the winter release date!

An ad for the upcoming issue of dengeki animaga has apparently revealed that a hoihoi-san anime is in the works.

Key has updated that there will be a dvd version of Clannad, and continues to hold on to their "within 2003" release date...

The new Comic Party OVA, Comic Party Revolution, will have the first episode released in december, and the second episode in march 2004. The first episode is going to be about the DC version exclusive character, Mikage Subaru, while the second episode would be about Ooba(ka) Eimi. I'm not used to the new art.

The Baldr team over at Giga has revealed their new game, Duel Savior, which is apparently an action game. Looks kinda neat, and stuff.

17th October 2003

I made a half-assed 4 koma page! So far it only has the Prinny mentor one, because I can't be arsed to find what older ones I've done. Times like this I wish somebody could collect all the links for me.

CPRO has put Ragnarok Battle Adventure 4.0 for download now. Now you can use the archer...!

Prinny Mentor

Whoa, this week's Hunter X Hunter in Shounen Jump was awesome. And onegai twins ending sucked. I regret watching the onegai series. Tenshi no inai jyuunigatsu makes me want to kill myself.

14th October 2003

Finally finished Tenshi no inai jyuunigatsu, but now the post-game analysing of events and characters is wrecking my mind. Plus I keep thinking of killing myself. Ought to make a new wallpaper.

13th October 2003

I really really ought to make a page with all the 4 koma I translated, but its so much work, mainly because I don't even remember what I did...!

- Megamix Gaiden

Doujin circle Rafaen has re-released MEGAMIX GAIDEN on their website. Quite a fun SRPG game made based on Tsukihime. Slight spoilers for people who don't know the original game though. They apparently made this on enterbrain's SRPG maker software though. SRPG maker 95 to be exact. Fun nonetheless. Good dot art.

12th October 2003

Fate/Stay night demo in the upcoming Tech Gian magazine! Awsome. Source: Namae no nai heya

The old watanabe seisakujou website has updated with info that Melty Blood SR version(previously known as Melty Blood Plus Disk) will have a demo released during this year's Winter Comic Market. Interestingly, it was originally supposed to be Melty Blood 2...

11th October 2003

Kurtis' body
Popular joke. There have been a few versions of this joke that I've seen across the various disgaea 4 koma books I have.

Leaf rocks

10th October 2003

Hot pulse has released a demo for Bike Bandits

Doujin circle Yukidaruma has released a demo for their Azumanga fighting game. Kinda fun, I think. Could do with a few tweaks and improvements. Otherwise quite well done graphics wise.

- Tsukihime 1

kita----!!

8th October 2003

Tsukihime tomorrow!

- Drill Milky Punch

Drill Milky Punch is a game by doujin circle French Bread, formerly known as Watanabe Seisakujou.

Fun high score accumulation game! When its two player you can kill each other while killing enemies too! How fun! And the manual has a message from Narita too! Which solves the biggest question I had about the circle, which mainly consisted of "is Narita in french bread?".

7th October 2003

- Scrapped Princess 24

Great ending to a great series. Why in the world was there that weird parody of old sci fi movie endings at the end of the anime anyway!? Actually, I HOPE it was a parody and that they weren't serious in thinking that it looked good.

6th October 2003

I didn't bother to try to edit the scan this time.

The Tenbatsu anime site has been updated

insert credit reports that KID has announced the fourth game of their well known series, Remember 11. I meant to steal this news yesterday, but I was too busy. If my sentence is too vague, you ought to go read the one that insert credit wrote instead.

4th October 2003

- Melty Blood Plus Disc

New moves, new backgrounds, Ren and Satsuki, next year.

- Bottle Fairy 1

Bleeding edge cuteness.

- Battle Programmer Shirase 1

Misao!? Could this be...!? An alternate universe of an alternate universe of one of the many universes of Tenchi Muyo!? The first episode had nothing. Though, I hope it develops into some geek-joke anime. That'd rock.

- Cromartie highschool 1

Anime of the year. Not really, but still...

2nd October 2003

Ruliweb has put up a movie of Hoihoi-san in action, taken from TGS. They also got a video of the upcoming Chou aniki game! uho!

It says winter 2003 release, but will Typemoon make the date or will they delay?

1st October 2003

Doujin circle French Bread has put up shots of their upcoming Muvluv doujin game, Drill Milky Punch. They'll be selling it in the upcoming Comic revolution 34 on the 5th of October.

Misato Mitsumi's going to be at Comic Revolution selling a 2004 calender and giving away an original doujinshi! And she just updated her website today into something more... empty.

No time to watch anime. No time to play Tenshi no inai jyuunigatsu. Ahhh.

30th September 2003

It appears that Realize by Playm now has a release date: 26th December. For those who do not know, Playm is a new company set up by mainly two well known members, the scenario writer and the artist of the Leaf Visual Novel series of games. And I'm glad their game logo as finally evolved to something not-suck.

The Hoihoi-san website now has some new rocking wallpapers. Source: Moon Phase

29th September 2003

Princess soft has put up an introduction to the new character in the console version of Moekan. You're not imagining things if you think she looks like an updated version of that other Mikoto that was in Nijyuuei, which was by the same makers anyhow.

28th September 2003

Lets all play Ys 6 in Kansaiben.

Hmm... Momoi Haruko is playing an original character in the DC/PS2 versions of Moekan. A rabbit girl from Alice in Chains... Would she make an appearance in the anime by KSS too?

Tenshi no inai jyuunigatsu scares me and my ideologies.

- D.C 13

Is is better if its bigger? No way. Petanko banzai.

27th September 2003

- Ys 6

Nice graphics, nice music, nice gameplay, too short, as usual.

- Cosmos sou 12

When it's good, it ends fast.

26th September 2003

Subtle Style has released a downloadable demo for their doujin fighter. One character. Not bad.

Why don't we see awesome cursing like this in english games anyway!? What's good about the game system is that I can go back to this phrase and make her repeat it again and again! How cool.

- Ai Yori Aoshi ~Enishi~ saiai

Why are they showing this now!? They should have shown this during christmas instead. There's no relation at all to the actual story!

25th September 2003

- Tenshi no inai jyuunigatsu

For those who don't know yet, Tenshi no inai jyuunigatsu is a visual novel produced by Leaf Tokyo, who have in the past also made Comic Party and Utawarerumono.

In previous interviews, it was commented that they were treading on new territory, as the execution of ths new game would be different from what has been in the industry all these years. It was not going to be a romance title.

So I started the game, and immediately greeted me a scene that I had thought I would never see in the prologue of a Leaf title. Shocked as I was, I read on and slowly came to realise the implications of the claim that romance was not going to play a central theme.

Going further into the game, the protagonist is a person who could probably be best described as somebody who has lost his direction in life. Troublesome is the word he uses to describe the act of living, and the reason for not commiting suicide, as he contemplates, is because it too, is too troublesome. Yet, he is not the suicidal or despressed person, just somebody who has found himself caught up in the absurdity of modern life.

I have not finished the game, or even reached a far enough point to confidently speak about this, but the possible themes that I have noticed are the futility of living, the absurdity of life, the harshness of reality, and the wavering of the human soul. However, seeing as I'm still only around the beginnings, I may be very wrong in my observations.

The graphic design, mostly by Amaduyu Tatsuki I presume from watching the opening credits, exuberates with style, though that is only for the in-game interface. The main menu isn't very different from others. The character designs and art, by Misato Mitsumi and Nakamura Takeshi are wonderful awesome beautiful excellent, as expected...

Music, for what I have encountered so far, is excellently composed, much of which is able to fit the many scenes as suitable accompaniments. Even if to judge it by itself, it is a rung higher than what Utawarerumono offered, which was already quite good in itself.

Conclusion: Awesome, I want to get back to it now.

24th September 2003

The Read or Dream manga is nothing like ROD TV! They tricked me!

23rd September 2003

Momotato has translated chapter 3 of Yotsubato! now.

- Tsukihime Prologue DVD video

A short 3 minute 30 second video giving a brief introduction to the beginning of Tsukihime. We have Shiki giving a narration of his life up till the point he meets Arcueid and a short glimpse of all the characters. The anime seems to be moving in the right direction, and the animation and art are satisfactory... They didn't change Shiki's "17 pieces" to turn down the blood and violence though, which is good to see. The only weird part is Arcueid's scary face when delivering her famous line. I wonder how that would play out.

However, there's not a lot of new scenes if you've been following all the promotional media regarding the Tsukihime anime. Doh.

- Elfen Lied

A brief introduction to the manga Elfen Lied.

The cover looks like this.

The contents look like this.

I haven't actually finished reading it myself, but the contrast between the cover and contents is... interesting. The story isn't very original, but the way its being handled is interesting. Reminds me of Alien 9's fake front, among others.

22nd September 2003

2 years after the initial appearance in newtype magazine, Gainax is finally going to animate that anime with character designs by the Green Green artist. I thought this day would never come... April 2004!

- Tenchi Muyo Ryoouki 3rd season ova 1

Keyword: Mediocre. Keyword to consider: Sucks. I might have been a bit more excited if Tenchi's mom was Achika. But nooooo, different universe! They suck. Why does Tenchi Muyo need so many universes anyway.

21st September 2003

Flon's first time.

The Tsukihime anime looks like it may be... a little different from the original. They've changed Arcueid's well-known quote around...

4 more days to the actual release of the prologue dvd YO! On a side note, Typemoon updated their fate/stay night page a little. Their writing is still as creative as ever.

- Sumebamiyako no Cosmos-sou 11

I love serious cosmos sou. Like awesome stuff.

20th September 2003

Aka comic anthology! Cover by Ken Yagami too! Practically the best comic cover ever by him, because all the covers of Nanaka 6/17 really suck serious ass. The stories in there are mostly humour based though, quite expected, since the original inclined way too much to the depressing side. And also, just about all the Disgaea 4 koma books suck aside from those published by studio DNA.

19th September 2003

Hmmm... Popotan's coming to the PS2. I wonder if I want to play it now that the h scenes are gone. The main reason why I hated the original was directly due to some of the h scenes...

- Kissing!!

Kissing!! is a game produced by Valhalla and published by Groover(of Green Green fame) that just came out today. And I shamelessly stole these links from insert credit's news today because I didn't want to run through Groover's page for the links for the introduction.

Even though the game's not by Groover this time, the game still seems to have the kind of "Groover" feel and direction that was in previous Groover games. Though, I only played Green Green a little, so I may be lying.

I've only played the game for a little so far, its mildly interesting. What really sucked was that the prologue mainly only served to tell you the names of the characters, and then they give you a choice on which character's route you want to go onto. Obviously I'd know shit about the characters, so I just chose the "main" character Ayaka. And I wonder about that middle age old man freak who always runs about in a reindeer costume and scares little boys.

The character designs by Kawahara Makoto are pretty nice though, and the game graphics are handled quite nicely... Even when the character doesn't have any lines, she would change expressions etc based on what is being said, this is quite usual compared to the usual.

The game interests me though, I may play this a little more... Just a little more though, because Ys 6 and Tenshi no inai jyuunigatsu comes out next week! WOO.

And the game made the crazy stupid pun about op- when the main character was learning maths. You need to know japanese to understand that pun though, and all I have to say is, DIE!

18th September 2003

Stellvia rocks, Momotato sucks, and I'm going to sleep, haven't had much of a wink in the last 48 hours.

17th September 2003

Disgaea 1
Disgaea 2

No scrapped princess next week!? again!? this close to the ending!? Die! And no Onegai Twins too. But that's secondary.

Momotato pointed out that lovely Wendy appeared in ROD TV 3 & 4. She hadn't developed like I hoped. Sucks.

16th September 2003

Playing tatakau maid even only at the frequency of once a day is enough to tire the hands out. Now I got a high score! HAH!

- R.O.D. TV 3

Lots of Yomiko stuff!

- R.O.D. TV 4

Lots of little girls! The ep moves the story along nicely, I like.

15th September 2003

eg feature on Ys 6. With nice gameplay introduction.

- Tatakau maid Osaru koubousen!

The demo for Tatakau maid osaru koubousen is out. It can be found in this website. Its... amazingly hard to control two characters at once, but it still feels so right at the same time. The highest score I could reach was only 6410...

I bet somebody like exodus from insert credit can't get any higher than me though!

CARNELIAN IS STOPPING DOUJIN!? BUT CARNELIAN'S BEST STUFF ARE IN DOUJIN!

One week till AS DVD, and two weeks before Tenshi no inai Jyuunigatsu... There's like nothing happening till then. Maybe its back to posting crazy screencaps from anime and making one liner comments that make no sense again. Wait a second... this site has a wallpapers section. Er.

12th September 2003

Uchuu no Stellvia rocks.

Gainax has put up a website for their Evangelion 2 game. Source: Moon Phase

11th September 2003

Kogado has put up a new opening movie for the upcoming AS DVD release on their website. AS > Angel Rabbie

Falcom has released another demo movie for Ys 6! Link here. It looks better and better... Source: Moon Phase

I play Disgaea too much

- Gaiety Angel

I don't even know how I'm going to talk about this game. Its a card game. With Galaxy Angels. Its fun. Kinda.

10th September 2003

Disgaea 4 koma kings owns Disgaea 4 koma manga gekijou.

Nekonekosoft's character popularity poll has ended, with Shindou in first place, woohoo! And originally when it started they had a 4 koma about her struggling to get into the top 4. Machine gun talk rocks.

- Throw

I'm out of Comic Market 64 stuff, so older doujin games. Throw is a doujin snow ball throwing game based on the highly hyped up visual novel that came out december last year, Snow. The demo can be found here(bottom of the page)

The graphic's pretty, music's nice, but the gameplay isn't as good as it could have been. This could have been better if it was a 4 player battle instead of a one-on-one snowball fight... The system where you have to make the snowball and pick it up is slightly flawed as well. I just kept picking up the CPU's snowballs as the match started and there was nothing it could really do. Though against a human they'll probably devise strategies against this... But their target audience, otaku and eroge players, have no friends to play against with anyway!

9th September 2003

It looks like after a few events which basically started with me finally persuading somebody to play Tsukihime, newlife anime is preparing to sub the Tsukihime anime... Some preemptive work was being done, and all I have to say is, f**k the terminology in Tsukihime is bloody impossible to translate. I'm pretty sure that most, if not all fansub groups will give a mess of a translation on this one. Especially if none of them have played the game before.

- Nanaka 6/17 13

One of my favorite chapters from the manga. Amemiya rocks. Though, the anime again practiced adding extra stuff that weren't as good. But that's still better than Narue's slow motion storytelling.

7th September 2003

A site introducing and describing the gameplay of Perfect Cherry Blossom.

- Sispri Gauntlet

If you suddenly become to have sisters in large quantities, what do you think? More over, they are so pretty, dangerous, aggressive... and loving you so much! Doujin circle D5 has released the demo of their sister shooting game on their website. Good intense sister shooting fun. Play Karen and kill them all sisters who want your precious brother!

6th September 2003

Was just visiting Kogado's website when I noticed they had set up a website for AS DVD already. I wonder if I want to play it... I thoroughly enjoyed the original, mostly due to the unexpected cruelty of the scenario writer.

The Tsukihime manga was better than I expected... uho! ii manga...

- Galaxy Angel Moonlit Lovers

Fun. But I haven't played enough yet to see if there's any depth to the story... In any case, they should have at least remixed eternal love or something! I was devastated to hear the same song again. Even though its still good. I didn't play the first game before, but I didn't know it was so... Sakura Taisen. And if I didn't know any better, I'd think this game was the original story and the anime was the crazy funny spinoff.

5th September 2003

Was discussing some stuff on Tsukihime translating, man, that thing's difficult to put in english...

- Kanon Town

Kanon Town is a side scrolling beat em up by Song2.

Doesn't this just look familiar!? I wonder what it parodies! Game is quite short, and your main goal is just to get enough money to buy a sword and stab Misuzuchin to death. The game's save/load is done through savestates though, and the game difficulty is throttled to follow that. There's a bucketload of stuff that kill you instantly. Not very serious at all, and its pretty fun for the sake of it.

4th September 2003

I don't know what to think about Tales of Symphonia anymore!!! I couldn't find any real reviews/comments on the game, so I went to 2ch. The popularity of the game's incredible there, it's practically taken over their console rpg board which is normally very varied. "TOS has changed the history of RPG gaming!" "A new RPG giant has emerged... DQ has been beaten". THEY'RE ALL OUT TO GET ME. I'll try to listen to the small minority that says the game sucks for now.

Some are speaking of a yumeria TV series starting next year...

Official voice samples for Tenshi no inai jyuunigatsu coming soon tomorrow! kita--!

3rd September 2003

Nununu!

Nekonekosoft's been having a character poll recently, and for the last three days Shindou has been unexpectedly leading the poll! Awesome. She's one of the most original characters I know of, which makes her my favorite Nekonekosoft character.

- Tsukihime typing online

Test your IME typing skills and such! Its quite old actually, and its not from Comic Market 64. But I didn't want to put up anything new today, so I dug up old screenshots of this game I had instead. The game is by the ever popular PSG Systems and you can download the demo here(direct).

The game interface is in a similar fashion to Puzzle Fighter, except you type your opponent to death. I suck at typing in japanese. I can't beat the CPU half the time. I'd do much better if the game's in english! Really!

2nd September 2003

The real full length version(s) of the Mikomiko nurse theme have been released in the Mikomiko nurse okaeshi CD.

Hmm... Running out of Comic Market 64 stuff.

- Kasuga Ayumu no tsuhan seikatsu

Kasuga Ayumu no tsuhan seikatsu is a doujin soft made by hirahira.

Not exactly a game, but more like a background screen saver. What you do most of the time is just watch Osaka go about at her crazy antics in her room. The only time the player has any interaction at all is when chiyochichi comes out and sells products for Osaka to play with. He sells stuff like chiyo's hair and the big kitchen knife! And even better, a light saber. Graphic's great, and she has all sorts of interesting antics. Always good to look at when bored.

1st September 2003

Finally bought myself the Disgaea character collection today. Hmmm... I'd thought it'd be ridden with more text, but its ridden with pictures instead!? Not really worth the money if you've already got the digital art collection, since they're almost the same thing aside from a few pictures, except digital format's better.(for me that is)

- R.O.D. TV 1

R.O.D. TV kita------! \(`A`)/ Wandaburu! Maburasu! Great first episode. NEED MORE. I didn't know Read or Dream was this much a continuation of Read or Die though, they're protecting Nenene again, and Yomiko's gone.

- Tales of Symphonia

The OP is great... the special CD is nice... The world and story design is really interesting too... FUCK I NEED A GC.

- Akihabara Otaku School

Akihabara Otaku School is a commercial visual novel released on the 29th of August by Frontwing.

I originally thought nothing of the game, aside from the really cool opening movie. But it really surprised me with the humour, which practically kept me laughing all the time when I was playing it.

See that picture to the right, the guy who looks like a character our of sen to chihiro to kamikakushi? He's the principle of the school, and that figure he's carrying is called Ayanami. His office is a giant mahou shoujo statue. That also has nothing on one of the teachers, who's a guy dresses and speaks like Lum. That kinda tells you the atmosphere of the game doesn't it?

What really got me though, was the american otaku called George Bush that's in the school. Aside from being a really accurate portrayal of those crazy american otakus, he's also kinda gay, and stupid. And the main character has a sister too! Who's not blood related! Can't have an otaku game without IMOUTO LOVE right!?

Music and art's pretty good, not over the edge, but above average. But the main focus is on the game contents isn't it!

The game's got nothing if you're looking for an awesome serious tragic depressing game, but its a load of fun that many games don't offer. I'll be playing more of the game. If I got the time.

31st August 2003

DK software has put up a demo of their mahoromatic fighting game on their website.

- Mitodokebito

Earth Well has released the demo for their extremely professional doujin ADV game Mitodokebito. Its better than a lot of commercial games man. The music's bloody good too.

- Nurse Witch Komugi-chan Magikarte Karte.3

Dude, if this doesn't own everything else, I don't know what does.

- Cosmos sou 8

Dude, if this doesn't rock, I don't know what does.

30th August 2003

Fufufu... it looks like Interlude's going to be animated. Source: Moon Phase

The Komugi game by Konami is apparently going to have 4 chapters total. Game, School, Suspense and Koyori.

- Takonurupo

By Optworks, who are known for very simple games that are kinda fun most of the time. Save the girls from the tentacles of the evil octopus from outer space! Doesn't that just sound great. Yeah.

The game's done in the same fashion as a Game & Watch game. The objective is to get to the gun and shoot the octopus, while avoiding his tentacles. The player also has to return to ship every 5 shots to get more ammo. At the same time, the octopus will attack the player's ship, and if the ship gets destroyed, the game is lost. I like Game & Watch.

29th August 2003

Kuroganegin has put up their doujin "Sayonara Watanabe Seisakujou" that was given out at Comic market 64 on their website. This doujin contains the good bye/thank you notes from a cumulation of doujin circles, including Type-moon and the GOF author. Watanabe Seisakujou has influenced a great number of people both inside and outside of Comic Market, hope they will continue to do the same in their future endeavours.

I was shuffling through my old stuff and I remembered this page about Arnie's greatest moments in his acting career.

- Jinkou tenshi

By ymck, there isn't really anything significant about the game out yet, aside from the free cd that was given out at Comic Market, containing a short movie clip introducing the story of the game. But what really interests me is the general art design which is quite stylish. Even their website, although only one page, shows quite a bit of creativity in there. This is one to eye at come Winter Comic Market...

- Chiccha na Yuki Tsukai Sugar Special 2

Back to the future.

28th August 2003

Today I forgot that this website existed. Hell with this, the second Sugar special's now!

27th August 2003

I need to play tenshi no inai jyuunigatsu...! The more I look as the promo info on the game the more depressing it seems. Another month before its out...

And the english release of Disgaea is out, you be a fool if you aren't buying it! I wonder about what they might have changed from the japanese release though... it seemed pretty much in one piece from what I've seen.

- Sinker

Sinker is a high speed doujin racing game by medama soft made based on whatsthatname anime that I forgot.

The stages are beautifully rendered, and the speed's fast! The graphics are pretty well done for a doujin game. Other than that, the game's fun. I'm not exactly a fan of racing games, so I can't really comment or compare it to the norm. Now, if only they didn't make you strip the girls after each race.

- Onegai Twins 6

I'm starting to notice the contrast in themes between Onegai Twins and Onegai Teacher... Where Oneti was about being unable to move, Onetwi keeps talking about being unable to stop. And I still think that themes of possible incest should be kept from prime time slots on tv.

- Scrapped Princess 19

Prison!?

26th August 2003

Well, a friend who goes by the nick metachronism(from newlife anime) who reads FMP managed to solve the mystery of fumoffu for me.

The hoihoi-san website has been updated with more stuff in the game section.

Twilight Frontier has updated with the 3.02 patch for Eternal Fighter Zero.

- Alice Senki

Alice Senki is a doujin fighting game by Yume no tsuzuki made based on games by the company Alicesoft. The demo can be found on this page.

Its pretty fun, really. For the most part. And there's a character that plays like Makoto from SF3 too! Only thing is, let us all learn from this, game balance does not mean having one character taking negligible damage and be able to kill most characters in 3 hits, and also have a full screen super that kills any character even if they block. Miki even beats the bosses in terms of such overwhelmingly unbalancing power!

- Full Metal Panic Fumoffu

BLOODY HELL ROCKS. I hope they can keep this up instead of sucking like the second half of the first Full Metal Panic! And wtf is a fumoffu anyway!

25th August 2003

A Ys 6 pre-story is up at the Ys 6 website, it can be found here. Pretty useless if you can't read japanese though. Source: Moon Phase

- Cosmos sou 7

The entire ep's a completely different style from the rest of the series. And its completely about Kurika too. I hadn't been a big fan of Kurika, but this has become my favorite ep in the series so far. Its quite serious too, a nice break from the usual comedic stuff.

24th August 2003

Elemental Soft has put up an online manual for Ragnarok Online Tactics.

Ragnarok Online Tactics was too short! 11 scenarios total... It did say "to be continued" at the end though. Here's false hope for a 52 scenario epic come Winter Comiket.

ARGIOPE IS BIG! ARGIOPE IS STRONG! ARGIOPE IS PROTECTING THE FOREST!

- Brief Karate FOOLISH

Brief Karate FOOLISH is a doujin game by D.C.S. about naked men in briefs fighting each other. A demo can be found here.(direct link)

Hah! Despite its looks, the game's actually quite... fun. Just don't let anybody catch you playing it.

What really made my day, however, was one of the characters' stage, which takes place in front of a backdrop of a real life photo of one of the backgrounds from Kanon, together with a bgm mix of the chorus of the theme song from Air, awesome!

- D.C 8

Pretty pointless waste of time ep. But Momoi Haruko finally gets to say more than one line in the episode.

- Soushun - tsutaetai koto -

Amazing game! I was playing it and for the first 5 minutes I was wondering why something like this wasn't in commercial land before...

The game is quite unique, in the sense that, all the scenes are animated with this sketch effect, which makes the characters and scenes seem a lot more alive, if you will. This effect, combined with the predominantly sepia colour theme, makes the game seem quite a bit nostalgic, which seems to also reflect the theme about reflection and regrets, which was evident in the game material - though I cannot say for sure this is the game's dominant theme, because I haven't played through it in its entirety.

In-game music appears to be completely piano, from what I've heard so far. This contributes quite a handful to the atmosphere that the makers are trying to create within the game.

Sadly, the game does not have any voices, obviously. But that has not stopped a game from being good before!

Overall from the first impressions, it looks like a great game filled with emotions, that does not attempt to cater to a wide audience, but more to what the makers really want. Which is what doujin should be about, yes! Too bad something like this would find it difficult to compete in the open market, where super fetish games like mikomiko nurse would drown it out. I'm not even sure if it has ero scenes, hmmm...

23rd August 2003

...

- Tsukihime no Shiro complete version

Bike Banditz & Perfect Cherry Blossom >>> Tsukihime no Shiro
I don't know what else to say other than "its not fun."

22nd August 2003

Forgot about this. Kanosshu 2 is by GC-maple, and you can download the demo for the game here(direct link).

- Bike Banditz

Bike Banditz is a horizontal shooter by Hot Pulse. When you first start the game, you're greeted by an awesome opening movie by Movision Imagica, which mimics the traditional japanese sunday morning hero cartoon show anime opening, and it succeeds quite well in doing so too!

That just sets the mood for this great doujin shooter, that while not showering you with a barrage of bullets every second, still manages to keep the same level of intensity that would be present in such a game.

The game programmer and graphic designer is by one of the members of the now-dead Watanabe Seisakujou, known best for the games Melty Blood and the Queen of Heart series. Which translates into a great, smooth flowing graphic style, responsive controls, and a great game engine!

It plays like... R-Type I suppose? The ship has a option flying around it, which can be directed to shoot in any direction from the ship. It can also be shot out into enemies, at the cost of slowly depleting the self-regenerating power bar. Additionally, bombs are only small explosions meant to clear the screen of enemy projectiles, and can only be used when the power bar is full(which in using it, would deplete the power bar completely).

A reasonable selection of 3 different characters are available at the start of the game(even though the opening movie made it look like there are 4). They all have the usual variety of attack attributes, and each character upon choosing, can also pick between homing or straight missles.

Music is enjoyable and upbeat too, complements the design and other aspects of the game quite well.

Typing way too much crap. Hence conclusion: Game rocks. And it runs in 640x480 too!

- Chiccha na Yuki Tsukai Sugar special 1

Saga's all grown up now! Woo! Then suddenly she starts a flashback which is apparently the main focus of the 2 episode special, damn! But still, its great to see more Sugar again.

21st August 2003

EasyGameStation released a patch for Duoprincess today... and in the same day cut the download off from their website due to bandwidth overload. Update: And now in the same day again, the update patchis back up.

Also, Elemental Soft has released a temporary patch for R.O.T. in their support BBS.

- Kanosshu 2

Twinkle star sprites with Key characters. The game has definitely improved over the first game, which was released two years ago... but I'm not exactly sure if the game's as fun as before.

One big complaint I have of the game is that they don't give invincibility anymore! All they do is make you blink a little and knock you in a random direction. This actually makes it possible to die by getting hit a single time and getting knocked into other damaging stuff again and again.

I couldn't get the music running either. All I could get was clicking noises, probably a bug.

Overall, well, its fun, but I may be playing the original more.

- ROSS/DL

Hm! The second disc's actually the DL Action doujin series in voice! Twas' surprising.

20th August 2003

Man, I really can't get over how excellent Scrapped Princess is. It repeatedly blows away whatever high expectations I have for it. Definitely one of the best anime I've watched.

The first half of Chiccha na yuki tsukai Sugar special airs tomorrow! Can't wait.

- Minori Amusement box "Kazebako"

A DVD with all the minori movies produced before, and a drama CD, which I can't really comment on at all because I know nothing about Minori games, though I've been meaning to play them. Well, all the movies are by Makoto Shinkai, and maybe a little Tsukune. Just eye candy, but no new eye candy if you've been following Minori stuff.

- Shin oouso

Again, nothing new if you've been following their releases from the beginning. But they also released the .fla file for the Ciel/Gundam Seed parody, along with mpeg versions of their flash productions. Also, they now got a bgm folder where you can add whatever bgm you want to the flash files, which will read from there.

19th August 2003

Fu fu... Infoseek decided it was time to stop me from despicably stealing their bandwidth, now the site's going back to being slow again.

Ditama Bow, the mahoromatic artist, also released a small "copy" mahoromatic doujinshi at Comiket. Its not a comic, nor is it H... and copy refers to it being photocopy produced.

- Ragnarok Online Tactics

Its pretty fun so far. The game makes use not of the usual turn based system, but rather, individual turns by each character. A charge bar is indicated below each character, and when it empties, the character gets his/her turn. This bar is affected by AGI.

You cannot set the stat point allocation for each character as they level up, but you can do so for their skills. Every level up gives 2 skill points to allocate wherever. I'm not sure about getting those skills that have prior skill requirements yet however.

You can actually buy from merchants instead of shops too! And some merchants try to rip you off too! Like the real thing! Wow!

And you actually need the Ragnarok Online client if you want BGM in this game. Though, you can also configure the game to add whatever music you like. Like those doujin remixes of RO music!

- Scrapped Princess 18

Escape! Winnia! etc!

18th August 2003

I hate free hosting solutions. grah!

I'll put up stuff on the newly released doujin games as I find time, bleedin' tired recently. And as a rule of thumb, I tend to only ever comment on the good games, bad stuff I can't bother.

The first patch for EFZ:BME is already out on Twilight Frontier's homepage. This one adds special attacks to Doppel Nanase and fixes some bugs.

A patch for the Briefs fighting game whose name I've forgotten is also released at the DCS homepage.

- Duoprincess

Man, I hadn't tried the demo before so I didn't know, but this game is GOOD. EasyGameStation seriously outdone themselves this time. Duoprincess is a doujin game of the PSX game Dew Prism. The game is a top-down view action RPG-esque stage by stage game, where you 'gain' levels as each stage progresses. There are two chosable characters, Mint and Yuya. Mint's a close range fighter, with less MP, and Yuya uses a gun, and has more MP but less HP. Each character can use spells from different elementals in the game and will have their own different effects. And I never played Dew Prism, so I might sound like an idiot talking about the characters.

What makes it so fun? Try it out, there's a demo on the Duoprincess webpage. This is what Falcom's Zwei!! should have played like.

- Perfect Cherry Blossom

As previously reported, Team Shanghai Alice has released Perfect Cherry Blossom, and its... great! Leaps better than the already awesome game, Embodiment of Scarlet devil.

What surprised me most was that, the graphics were actually visibly better! The previous game already didn't need any improvements to the graphics, but its a nice touch nonetheless. Just, the character art still looks the same.

While the first boss seems as easy as it should be, the later bosses are a little more... varied this time around. I don't think I've ever seen attacks like these around in shooters before, makes the difficulty a tad higher than the last game. Bombs are your best friend.

They've introduced a new kind of a cherry blossom system now, where after shooting enough enemies, you go into a kind of a magic barrier mode which lasts only for a short duration, where you can either use it as a free 'bomb' which clears the screen of bullets, or if you get hit while the barrier is activated, you'll just lose the barrier instead of dying. That said, its time limited, and when it runs out, you just get a point bonus. I haven't read the manual yet though, so I'm only saying that from what I experienced.

Only problem I have with the game is that I got no gamepad, and the keyboard's not nearly responsive enough when you have to dodge entire screens of bullets through the whole game.

17th August 2003

And so ends the last day of the Mitsumi-less Comic Market. The last day's where the action is!

Comic Market event reports from Alchemist and Milksoft. Source: Moon Phase

Man, Tenbatsu got downsized into an ova, and on top of that the art looks like crap! Definitely not anything near what I hoped for... I don't know if I still want to watch it.

- Eternal Fighter Zero: Bad moon edition

Of the three new characters that are in the game now, only Kaori is anywhere near being complete, the other two characters only got their normal attacks. Kaori feels a little... underpowered, though. She's a close range fighter, but she has crap for reach because she's using her fists, and she doesn't have much to combo into. That'd have been fine, but her damage sucks too! I'm not sure if she only feels underpowered because its my first time using her though... And no new boss.

The new title screen looks like shit too. wtf!

- Cosmos sou 6

Ruled. Fight the summer!

16th August 2003

Day 2 of Comic Market. People speak of the rain. Some good games. Maybe I'll put something about it up tomorrow,

15th August 2003

And so ends Yaoi day at Comic Market 64. KEY+LIA Spica/Hanabi/Moon released by Key sounds label is pretty good...

- Disgaea Arrange sound track

I love it. Long version of Tomoyo and Shiawase no hana! And remixes of Planet X and Kanashiki Tenshi. Too bad there was no Mirai e no kousen though.

- Disgaea Drama CD

Its funnier than the 4 koma book. And the game. Flon rocks. Majoly appeared too. Petanko banzai.

- Mahoromatic Summer special

Not bad.

14th August 2003

Tomorrow's Comiket.

- Nekoneko soft gift CD 5

The Aka side story was as I hoped, a serious one. It didn't cover up all the weird holes in the plot, but it did explore a part of the game that I thought was overlooked in the original story... Aside from th Aka side story, there were many other great scenarios too, including the nekonekosoft original short story, the 120 yen summer. I might comment more as I play through each scenario...

- Uchuu no Stellvia 20

Synopsis: Old man convinces many other old men that little girls are moe.
I like them dramatic music. But them dramatic music have a tendency to be left out of the OSTs. Damn them people.

13th August 2003

- Eternal Fighter Zero Bad Moon edition

The doujin circle Twilight Frontier has also updated their website with additional info on Eternal Fighter Zero bad moon edition. Hmm! The weird "onamae wa? x 99" voicedbyMaayaSakamoto drone girl was supposed to be in the game.

- Ys 6

Ys 6, the 6th game in the RPG series that introduced the world to the concept of a story driven RPG, finally has a demo movie up for grabs now! Direct link here. Looks fun. I want the full movie!

- Black box: Soushun

Black box has released a new demo movie of their upcoming game Soushun slated for release at Comiket. It can be downloaded at their website. They're apparently having bandwidth troubles now though(not surprisingly), and speed's terrible on both the main and mirror. The game looks great though, I might play this one...

12th August 2003

So... neither Onetwi nor Sutepri aired today. How wonderful!

Caught this off an imgboard. You'd probably need some Tsukihime knowledge to understand the Ms Curry joke... man, I couldn't stop laughing.

- The embodiment of scarlet devil

Man, this game is bloody fun, and hard too. I don't think I've had that much fun in a shooter in years.

The game is a vertical shooter by Team Shanghai Alice. The game character system doesn't have any of the new fancy gimmicks, but consists only of "shoot" and "bomb". There isn't even a charge up attack or anything. It does have a score item system where the more you collect of the score item, the higher the score you get from each one.

There are two selectable characters, each with two variations of attack. The music goes really well with the game, and there is actually a decent variety of music, one for every stage and boss battle.

The game engine is actually good, controls are responsive, hit frames are accurate, game just feels like a professional production every way I see it. This is a stark contrast to other doujin shooters like Tobi Touka, which was... trash. I especially love the game for the number of bullets that have to be dodged. Reminds me of playing Gunbird 2 at the hardest difficulty...

You can download the demo here(4 mb, direct link)

Can't wait to try out their new game Perfect Cherry Blossom that comes out at Comiket 64...

+ What Terminator 3 should have been

11th August 2003

Not feeling like updating any more than this today. Hmmm... 4 more days to Comiket. How exciting. JUST THERE'S NO MITSUMI!!! ARGHHH!!!

Hmmm... I was looking through the Comiket 64 catalogue CD, man, the guy who made it really knows his graphics formats. There were two directories in there, one with JPEG files and another with PNG, both were of the same pictures. Except the PNG one was lossless and half the size of the JPEGs. Most people don't understand PNG enough to know it can perform feats like this, but this is the first time I've seen it being so obvious.

And if anyone's curious to what the pictures contained, they were pictures representing each doujin/commercial participant in Comiket and their locations, all 30,000+ of them. The JPEG were 325mb, while the PNGs were 160mb.

10th August 2003

Hm? Naruto movie? I missed reading about it the first time through...

- Cosmos sou 5

Too random. Hopefully the next episode will be better. And I'm running out of stuff to say.

- R.O.T

Elemental Soft, the creator of Super Majokko Taisen has released screenshots of their latest game, Ragnarok Online Tactics. Man, this one looks really good. Its so on top of my list now.

- Brief Karate

D.C.S. has released a new demo of their... unique game of men fighting in briefs. This time the nekomimi guy is also selectable.

- Disgaea 4 koma gekijou

Bought this yesterday, not as funny as I thought it'd be. The GGXX and Xenosaga 4 koma books were better. Come to think of it, I think I laughed more at the game itself than at their 4 koma comics. It has two strips by the Disgaea character designer Harada Takehito though, and they clearly show that while Harada's great at still images, Chou niku is better than him when it comes to comic effects and expressions.

- Triumphal Records

Triumphal Records, known for their Ninni Radio production, will be selling a 3 CD compilation containing the 3rd chapter and the final chapter of Ragnarok Online Sound Stories(ROSS) during Comiket. Personally I never really liked ROSS, they should revive ninni radio again!

+ TV shopping

9th August 2003

Hmmm... lots of doujin stuff for today. And it also looks like I forgot to update the older stuffs link as I deleted items from the main page. Its fixed now.

- Minori at Comiket 64

Minori, the makers of Wind and Bittersweet fools, will be releasing the minori amusement box "Kazebako" in the summer Comiket. It includes a drama CD from the dreamcast version of Wind, and a DVD containing a collection of movies that Minori has produced, mostly by Shinkai. I expect.

- Happy Lesson Advance 6

Mikomiko teacher rangers.

- Ambivalence

Ambivalence has released a movie of their upcoming game Sandglass story

- Subtle Style

Subtle Style's going to release a demo of their fighting game with 3 usable characters in comiket, while in the near future, they'll also release a demo with one usable character in their website.

- Comiket

Comiket bible 2003. It's apparently pretty good. A complete guide to the crowd at different times, doujin circles at Comiket, the average time they take to sell out, and a ton more that also covers the cosplayers, the companies attending, how to get in, etc. Lots of info you'll never get anywhere else.

- New oouso

Coming soon in Comiket 64

+ An Interview

8th August 2003

- Tenshi no inai jyuunigatsu

Delayed to September 26th. Completely expected, but I wish it didn't have to happen... And speaking of the game, Leaf has been releasing demo openings of the game around in magazines and the visual fanbook that came out today. It features the theme song, which sounds wonderful..

7th August 2003

- Newtype September

The new Newtype magazine that came out apparently has a ton of info on new anime. Tsukihime... I've obviously been waiting a long time for this. The art style in the anime's obviously quite different from the original, but it looks good, to say the least. I want the cast list!

Apparently the Gungrave anime's not dead yet and its coming in Oct, and Watanabe Shinichirou's new anime Samurai Champloo... Akitarou's back with Jubei-chan 2, gah? What happened to Kuromi anyway...? Did that come out?

And apparently Blackbox is coming out with a new game in Comike, woo!

- Uchuu no Stellvia 19

Stellvia > Gundam Seed. And its more moe too on top of that. I like how Kouta gets ignored at the end too. Die Kouta!

6th August 2003

- Scrapped Princess 17

I love how they end the episode just as it gets exciting. Man, and I need to wait TWO WEEKS before the next episode airs!? I'll stab them bastards! It's going to be a long wait for the 19th of August when it airs...

5th August 2003

The updates are still a little disorganized, trying to get them organized...

- Rainbow Region

I'm tired, so I'll keep it short for Rainbow Region. Its about characters in Kanon and Air realising that they live in a fake computer game world, and they try to escape from it. I don't know how that leads to the strange title "Rainbow region" however. The game's by D-Craft, whose website apparently does not work right now.

The game's basically a vertical shooter, except the player can only move left and right. The player is able to switch between Ayu, Nayuki and Makoto any time in the game, and each character has her own unique ability. That's fun and all, but Ayu apparently owns the other two in all aspects.

There are several flaws in the game however. When your character is hit, there is no invincibility time frame, she just falls over and gets up again. Though she's invincible during that time, the player cannot move at all, so there can be cases where the enemy just lingers over the body and there's no escape.

Fun. Though.

- Tsukihime no Shiro

Apparently DNA Software is going to release the complete version of Tsukihime no Shiro come Comike 64. The previous versions they released in Comike 62 and 63 were so painfully incomplete that I couldn't really play them, much. Thanks to insertcredit for bringing up the title.

- Onegai Twins 4

I like how they keep ecchiness to certain short portions in each episode and leave the rest of the episode clean of such... distractions. Haruko's cool, I wonder how much before she'll get an episode, if ever.

+Mikomiko nurse job interview
I'm starting to see why Mikomiko's so popular in 2ch now...

4th August 2003 - Tsuki no sabaki, and the lack of cosmos

Even with a title screen that's pretty much irrelevant to how the game is, PSG system laboratory has managed to make a game that stands quite well on its own even though being a doujin spin off of the original Tsukihime game.

As much as the title Tsuki no sabaki suggests, this game is a detective-esque game where you play as Shiki, who is a lawyer. Sounds different? Indeed, the game does not take place in the Tsukihime universe, but in an alternate universe where Sacchin still does not get her scenario. The game starts out by introducing you to your superior, Kouhaku, and the accused, Arcueid, who was charged with the murder of Satsuki. This is where the one of the best points of the game is, its actually paced properly.

The game takes its time to introduce the player to how the game and world functions, and how the proceedings are like. This is a sharp contrast to less well made doujin games like where they'll throw you straight into the main game itself and expect you to know and/or figure out everything immediately.

Writing is above average in the game, where they manage to fill each character with an ample share of personality, while still managing an equal share of murder and mystery as they go through clues and details bit by bit.

As for music... I can't seem to remember, even though I played the game less than an hour ago. I bet its average.

Hence, therefore, I conclude, the game, is, a 10/10. Only because I felt like giving that score, nothing to do with the game.

I don't know why but I'm looking around at older doujin games again while waiting for comike 64... And no new cosmos sou this week! Ahhh! Life sucks! At least tomorrow evening has got Onegai Twins and Scrapped Princess. woo.

+Miko miko nurse fun continues

3rd August 2003 - Kanoair smash, Da Capo 5, .hack, and mikomiko brainwash

I was originally just visiting Studio Siesta's page to check if they got anything new for Comike, but somehow I ended up getting this doujin game by Micro Dream Studio that was released during comike 63 instead.

Starting the game, I was greeted by a nice and polished looking title screen and interface design, not a bad start. The game itself, while having certain flaws common to doujin games, is quite solid in the gameplay. The objective of the game is to knock the other players off the game area, while avoiding getting knocked off yourself. Attacking does not do damage, but just makes it easier to smash that character into the air. The music is decent, better than Eternal Fighter Zero, but not as good as the music in Studio Siesta games.

The biggest complaint I have had with the game is the balance, as is usual in doujin games. Certain characters like Ayu and Misuzu just have crazy abilities that are too good for their own good, then some other characters are too useless. This is all speaking from the original version of course, the website has new updates that I haven't applied yet, which might iron out the balance issue.

And I can't wait for Studio Siesta's awesome new ost in Comike.

Nekomimi musume to meido fuku, kore mo otoko no roman ka!? Its been a long time since I last liked any nekomimi musume, and Yoriko's design lacks originality, but I seem to be falling for it. Damn.

Playing .hack in parody mode suddenly made me change my mind about the game. .hack rocks. They're insane. Times like this I wish I bought video capturing equipment... Any game that congratulates your mission well done by saying "Was it my imagination? My ass itches..." ought to get a 10/10.

And speaking of .hack, the website for .hack//integration is up, with a promotional video.

I knew nothing good could come out of reading insertcredit. I saw the mikomiko flash that was on their front page a while ago, and It stuck. "Hmmm... nice song" I thought, so I went to Psycho's homepage and grabbed the song off them. "Hmmm... not enough" I thought, so I found and got the '10 minute long brainwash version'. I think I'm going to die. Mikomiko nurse!

2nd August 2003 - Comic Market, Nekoneko, and .hack

Mix-ism(the Comic Party official manga author) is coming with a Tsukihime/Melty Blood doujinshi this time around for Comike, I wonder if its a comic this time around... he hasn't had a comic doujinshi since 2001.

I wonder if Black Box or Studio Crossfire have anything this Comike. They're pretty much the only doujin soft circles I know that have these big name people working in, with Black Box having one of the two Kanon/Air scenario writers on board with the Sayorana team, and Studio Crossfire with those popular professional voice actresses like Kawasumi Ayako.

Nekonekosoft the makers of Aka, have announced the 5th Nekonekosoft gift CD, and will be sending it out to their fanclub members on the 9th of August. One of the items listed in the contents is "Aka side story". I wonder if it's humourous or if it'll fill in those weird holes in the Aka storyline that shouldn't be there.

Completing all 4 of the .hack games gives me the same feeling I had when I watched .Hack//Sign from start to finish. "I wish I didn't waste all that time...". And the boss battles are bloody irritating too, they're really easy and its practically impossible to lose, but the battles take literally forever, with the final boss battle taking like an hour.

1st August 2003 - Gaming?

Finally went back to Aka again and played the extra scenarios that I passed over when I played the game the first time around. Man, I've not laughed so hard in ages, especially the dragon quest parody shown in the shot above, it even came complete with traditional 8 bit graphics! Quite a nice change from crying my eyes out from the bloody depressing main story.

Been playing some of .hack vol 3 and 4. Man, the final parts of the game would be a lot more fun if I didn't have to spend hours to get those 44 virus cores before I can access all the dungeons leading up to the final dungeon. Still, Ryoko moe moe.

Type-moon has released the first web info on Fate/Stay night, their first game as a commercial company!!! kita------!! As usual with any major game announcement, their website is no longer functioning. Man, they're actually aiming for a 2003 release... I wonder if they can make it? It seems to have nothing to do with Tsukihime, they tricked me with those pictures with Arc!

Come to think of it, Type-moon seems to be slowly crawling to the same level of popularity as Key and Leaf now, and they haven't even published their first commercial game yet...!

And if you want impressions on Popotan 3 or Ikkitousen, go to Momotato's page. He even started putting up pictures now.

30th July 2003 - Scrapped Princess 16 and Comic Market

Like a huge climax waiting to happen, all the cast's assembled now, and Winnia/Ayasumi is getting more and more air time woo! It looks like the climax isn't coming in the next episode though, I love to hate how they keep me drooling with anticipation.

Other than that, comic market's coming soon... HUGE PITY MITSUMI ISN'T TAKING PART THIS TIME. ITS ALL TENSHI NO INAI JYUUNIGATSU'S FAULT.

On the bright side, at least two weeks after Comike her game's coming out (hopefully). Other than that, Key/Lia's going to release a new single during the event, I wonder if it has anything to do with Clannad this time around? Furthermore, since Mitsumi's not going to be at Comike, I wonder about Nakamura and Amaduyu...

29th July 2003 - Scrapped Princess 16

As awesome as ever. I'll add more comments tomorrow.

29th July 2003 - Onegai Twins 3

Its like... watching a rainbow for 23 minutes. Wonderful. Beautiful. Mmmm... I love tuesdays, Scrapped Princess airs later tonight too. Rock! Good anime like to pick tuesdays.

27th July 2003 - Cosmos sou 4

Another saturday, another awesome episode. Momotato says that Hiyashinsu is voiced by Kotono Mitsuishi, sounds like a familiar voice actress, if only I could remember who she was.

25th July 2003 - Popotan 2

I've been trying to hold back disappointment, but man, I hope this thing actually gets better. Maybe another ep... The opening song by Momoi Haruko is excellent though, but the visual aspect pales to the DVD game's, which had more of Poyoyon Rock's style..
